In a project model of writing, writers work in cross-functional teams (bottom image) to consider all project requirements in parallel instead of in serial stages (top image).

Advantages to learning include 1) taking  advantage of emergent learning that occurs in teams, and 2) preparing students for the complexities of writing they will face upon graduation.
